- Work/Style/Technique -
I use wild turkey feathers which I wrap or embellish with various other types of feathers such as pheasant, guini, partridge, peacock, etc. to create the effect I am looking for in a particular piece.
After the feathers are glued down to a piece of mat board with a combination of commercial glue and a glue gun, I spray them with an acrylic sealer to enable them to take acrylic paint.
I manufacture a mylar template from sketches I have made of either wildlife or native american subjects. I use the template as a stencil for placement on the feather, and once I have the outline I then render the image.
Once the image is rendered, I hand cut the mat individually for each feather and insert something that realates to the subject, such as an arrowhead for native american, a resin talon for an eagle, antler tip for a deer, etc...
After I cut the mat, I use foamcore strips and 3m foam tape to creat depth between the mats to accomidate the artifact and the feather and frame it in a "shadow box" style frame.
The only parts that I do not work on or make are the frames and items (resin claws, arrowheads, etc...).
- Bio -
I have been a full time artist for the last 12 years, prior to that time I studied under several artists in both europe and the united states, completed a career as an illustrator/artist in the United States Air Force, and "dabbled" in the field of fine art for many years.
My artwork is in collections throughout the world. Among the owners of my work are Sir Harry Tuzo, former aide de camp to queen Elizabeth, Mr. Gregory "pappy" Boington, Former secretary of state Alexander Haig, and The Konigsbacher breweries in Germany. I am a member of the western art association.
My works are regularly purchased by foundations such as the rocky mountain elk foundation, rocky mountain mule deer foundation, ducks unlimited, and pheasants forever.

Artist Statement
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to make a living as a fine artist. Two decades as an illustrator in the Air Force helped me make the transition from commercial work to creating my own works of art. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to create my art full time and it gives me great satisfaction whenever someone likes it enough to add my works to their collection.
North american wildlife and native american themes are recurring subjects in my work. I strive to capture the beauty and mystery of the wild places and times past. I find that I can make a connection with the viewer and convey those themes by using natural elements and in the unique way I render the subject, carve the mating and present the piece.
My work continues to evolve on an almost daily basis, and my fascination with the design and presentation is a major part of what drives me. Currently my work is becoming larger and more intricate, it is always a challange to let my ideas go and follow them.
